Shadow of the Brick 2

Thank you all for watching. Please subscribe to the channel Green Dragon Films to see my future projects, which aren't Lego base!!! D:<

Shadow of the Brick Post Release

Shadow of the Brick 2 went on to YouTube on August 22, around 6-7 PM. So far, a week later, the views have gone over 100. A slow start, but getting up there. I posted the video under the category of "Gaming" instead of "Film and Animation", thinking that it would get more attention under that one. I might change it in a week and see how that changes the attention it's getting. So far no new subscribers have been added to the Green Dragon Films Channel, and only one comment has been posted on the video. I'm no going to lie, it is a bit disappointing, hopping that the film would get more attention than it is, since I spent three years working on it, it's to be expected. Here's a few screen shots from the film in hopes that someone will use them to promote the film for me, other wise I posted the film on the site Digg. I haven't checked it after I posted it, I'm sure there's no new diggs on it, and that it's been buried so far. I don't know how that site works, as I signed up for it the night before I released the film. I think there's something I can embed into sites that will let people digg the story related to the film. I feel like a spaz thinking about advertising it around sites I know and visit, like I'd be spamming them or somthing. But I want the film to get out there more.

Shadow of the Brick 2 is Done...

Here it is. Well, in the working form...

I'll give it a few more days to do some final sound work. It's done otherwise. I hope you like it when I feel satisfied, and finally release it.

Almost Done, I promise!

I've finished filming for ALL of the scenes I want to do. All I have to do is finish editing it around. I have some more audio to add and tweak, the I'll try to trim the clips to better sync it to the music playing, then it's on the Internets! Holy crap has this been a LOOONG production. I can't believe I've done this whole film over almost from scratch. Almost every original scene was redone, and it's been almost three years since I've started working on this thing! Wow! I hope people give a crap about it :[

ON VACATION!

Dear viewers, I will be on vacation for the next two weeks, so I will not be able to work on SotB2. Up until now I have been hard at work on the film, doing every little tweak I could to make it just perfect, and filmed additional scenes to flesh out the film to fit the music in. I hope everyone will love it. But until then, I will be in Florida for the next two weeks, and will be away from my computer. I will finish the film when I get back, maybe after another two weeks of work after. Hope to see you there when it’s done!

A little bit left to go!

I'm currently re-tooling all of the sound throughout the film. I have a few more VERY SHORT scenes to go till I'm satisfied with the timing and the flow of the movie. I'm excited about finally releasing it, but at the same time I'm getting more and more nervous every time I get closer to the films completion. I look at finished scenes and debate with my self over rather or not a scene is perfect, or if I should just scrap it and re-do it, pushing the film further back in development. It's kind of depressing me that the film I eventually release might not be as good as people or I myself have been anticipating, so it makes me want to work on it longer, all the while wanting to get it over with at the same time. It's driving me mad!

It's so hard having to take three days off to build a set and then put off filming for a few days while I plan the scene out, and then when I've mustered enough determination to finally film the set has been moved around so much that it's broken to pieces and have to rebuild it again! I may never work with LEGOS again!! It's so frustrating.

Back to work!

I took four days off over the weekend from working on the film to finish off inFAMOUS for the PS3. It was a fun game, I forgot how awesome Sucker Punch games is. I guess it's because I never played the two sequels Sly Cooper got. Now it's back to work, and today I re-rendered (I think that's what it's called) several scenes for better quality. What this essentially means is that when I saved the pictures as a video file, I chose "High Quality" thinking it was the best setting, but in all sucks compared to what it saves it as by default, which is the "Best settings for my computer" one. So I re... downloaded (?) several scenes to make them look better. The edges of the characters in the videos are all jagged now though, for some reason. Can anyone let me know what I'm doing wrong here? I want this film to have the best quality I can get... without spending money for a real editing program :P Just let me know... that anyone actually reads this...

Summer Progress!

I haven't updated on this blog for a while, that's because I've been working on SotB2 nonstop all summer so far. I got off in March and have been filming and editing scenes since, and am now 96% done. Wow, looking back at the earliest footage, I now realise that I've been working on this film on-and-off since 2006, that's THREE YEARS!! WOW again. The film has almost broken 6 minutes, and I'm still trying to do more scenes to fill in for the music. I really hope allot of people see this film to make it all worth it, I really do. I might never work on a LEGO animation film again, because it's so stressful! Making all the models, trying to keep them together between scenes, running out of a particular color brick, and having to take a set piece apart to build a new one, only to decide that I want to do over a scene using the piece I took apart! Holy crap! I don't think I could do this again! Well, I'm done with the colossus parts, and am trying to flesh out the intro, which, unlike most of the colossi, is more like the game. I'll try to update again before the films is done. Thanks to all who read this, please leave feedback on here or the YouTube channel, thanks.

Bad News

My damn camera broke. I don't know what happened. I charged the battery all night, and put it back in the camera the next morning. When I turned it on, the screen flickered really bad and the camera shot off. So... I called tech support, and had to send my camera for repair. The guy on the phone said it'd be ten business days before I got it back. I hope I get it soon, I really want to finish this cursed movie!!!

Wall Crawler Done!

I worked on a small scene with the wall crawling colossus today. I forget which number he is, or what his official name is, but it's the one you have to shoot the glowing spots to knock off the wall... Any way, it was a short scene, and once I have it edited together will probably be only three or less seconds in the film. Still, it's progress!!

Push for the Finnish!

I'm almost done with the film, yet I haven't worked on it all week. I'm going to force myself to work on the scenes I've been putting off. The one scene, where Wander takes Mono to the alter was redone three times, and I dumped all of them! I'm so irritated with this scene, I'll have to try something different this weekend.

Oh, happy Easter/ Passover everyone!

Close to being finnished!

I watched everything I've done so far a while back, and thought to myself: "wow, I'm almost done!" I can't believe it's been over a year since I started work on Shadow of the Brick 2, and I'm a few more seconds of footage away from being done! I hope people are still interested in the film when it comes out, hopefully around the beginning of Summer. I have a few more scenes to go, then I'll rush to tweak everything to perfection. I'll desperately try to get some more work done this weekend, and not get distracted by things.

2 Scenes worked on Today!

I have been trying to do as much work as I can lately. I've done work on the film everyday this week, and have completed three scenes. So far I've added ten seconds onto the over all time of the movie, this week alone. It may not sound like allot, but some of the scenes have taken two to three hours to set up. Planning, storyboarding, set building. It's exhausting! I hope I get more done before the break is over, because I start class on Monday again.

Hopefully I'll be done before Summer. Maybe in June.

Verry Little Work Done Today

I tried to get some work done today, but ended up going to the grocery store for three hours. I'll try to make something out of what little I little today tomorrow.

All day, three seconds...

I spent all day trying to get a scene to work, and only ended up with three seconds of footage to work with. Damn... here's some pics.

Production Resumed

I am currently remaking scenes from the early version of the film. So far two of the three scenes have been redone. I will begin making new scenes shortly.

I will be releasing two production films shortly as well. One will be another deleted scenes movie, showing the early versions of the finished scenes I've remade. They do not feature any colossi, however.

I'm also going to finally release the late production documentary films, Making the Alter and others. Stay tuned, and go watch some videos from my other YouTube channel, Matt's Gameplay until then. I did the entire game of Drakan: The Ancients' Gates a few months ago.

I would also like to mention that the wacky Canadians over at Can of Nothing mentioned Shadow of the Brick on last month's podcast. I'm a fan of their work, and was surprised they mentioned my film. They got a few things wrong, but I'll put up a video about the matter soon. Thanks Guys!

Rebuilding the Idol

I forgot to embed this video in here. It's a video I used to find the path of the camera before I did the individual photos.
I haven't been working on the film lately. College is back in full force, and I'm having trouble finding time to dedicate to my various projects. The last thing I did was rebuild the idol for a scene in the credits. I added more in-game-accurate walls around the idol to frame it in the shots. I also plan on redoing scenes that feature the old idol. This might set me back two weeks, depending on college work and how lazy I might be...

New! Scenes from the Credits

I'm doing additioal scnes for under the credits. It will be like the credits of the game, with the text behind scenes of the ruined colossi, plus shots of points of interest (the bridge, temple, exc.). Here's some still pics from the credits, and some behind the scenes looks.
